This sculpture begins my second series that is based on the ancient concept of the universe being composed of four Elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. (See also my first 4 Elements series.) Titled Freedom Cubed or Air, this work perhaps gives a mixed message, can freedom be constrained within the walls of a box? Or is that an oxymoron? Since we all must live within at least some constraints, I will cling to the idea that certain freedoms still are available to us.

Having taken about three months to complete, this work was created using the off-loom peyote stitch bead-weaving technique, in 40+ shades of glass seed beads over a hollow wooden cube.
